RATOON MECHANICAL ELIMINATOR FOR COMBINED SPACING

Implement developed with the objective of simultaneously eliminating 2 sugarcane ratoon rows spaced 0,90 m apart when it is necessary to renew the sugarcane field. Coupled to the tractor three-point hitch, this implement has 2 cutting disks that work on the ratoon row.

Next, two plowshares (lifters with curbs) pluck and raise the ratoons, which are caught by a set of knives built in a coiled revolving system activated by the tractor PTO through cardan shaft with reducer, where they are beaten and completely destroyed becoming small fragments that are thrown behind onto the ground.

This practice is very effective for the control of the plague named Sphenophorus (Sphenophorus levis), that lodges in the rests of the root system of the old ratoon; and when the sugarcane field is renewed, the plague feeds on the new planted cane setts, causing many flaws in the new cane field. The practice of destruction of the old ratoons with this implement exposes the plague larvae to sunlight which does their control, besides the mechanical control by the action of the knives of the implement and the control by the birds that feed on the exposed larvae on the ground right after the implement has passed.
